Andy Lipkis is a social entrepreneur and visionary who founded TreePeople in 1973 and has served as its President since then. TreePeople has been an international pioneer for the citizen forestry movement by inspiring and training thousands of residents to increase citizen leadership in urban tree planting and care, including the planting of one million trees in Los Angeles. Andy’s innovations and leadership, over the last four decades, have had lasting impacts on an international scale by forming partnerships between diverse and sometimes conflicting parties in developing, executing and communicating solutions to demanding public health, economic and environmental issues.
 
Andy has also featured in numerous television programs, such as the Emmy Award winning series “How Does Your Garden Grow” and the PBS series “Edens Lost and Found.” He has addressed numerous groups across the States and the world, including the United Nations, the U.K. National Urban Forestry Unit and the U.S. Forest Service and Greening Australia, regarding linked environment, urban foresty, sustainability, water and energy use issues.
