Dr. Nirakar Pradhan has been awarded a grant from the Hong Kong SAR Government's Environment and Conservation Fund for a research project titled "Unlocking the protein degradation potential during anaerobic co-digestion of food waste and livestock manure: Insights from microbial communities". The research aims to characterize microbial communities in full-scale digesters and batch disturbance studies, examine the rate and kinetics of protein degradation, and understand the impact of protein degradation on the quality of biogas and digestate. The study will be conducted in three stages over 18 months, using over 3,600 tons of food waste and livestock manure generated daily as raw materials. The operating conditions will be designed to mimic large-scale biogas plants in Hong Kong.
浸大生物系助理教授Dr Nirakar PRADHAN,獲得了香港特別行政區政府環境及自然保育基金資助一項名為“Unlocking the protein degradation potential during anaerobic co-digestion of food waste and livestock manure: Insights from microbial communities”的研究專案。
