Dr. Chi-Ho IP (Biology, Postdoc) and Ms. Yixuan LI (Biology, PhD, Year 1) from Prof. Jian-Wen QIU’s lab received the Best Young Scientist Presentation Award and the Best Student Presentation Award, respectively, at the 1st International Symposium on Marine Science and Engineering for Young Scientists and Postgraduates. Dr. IP presented his recent progress on the bleaching mechanisms of the coral reef ecosystem. Ms. LI reported a new molecular technology applied to the phylogeny and population genetics of bivalves.
This international symposium was organized by The Hong Kong Branch of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) during 12 - 14 July 2021. The Symposium aimed to gather distinguished scientists, young scholars, and research graduates to discuss the recent advances in Marine Science and Engineering.
生物系邱建文教授實驗室的博士後葉志豪博士與博士研究生李一璿在第一屆海洋科學與工程青年學者與研究生國際研討會中，分別獲得最佳青年學者報告獎和最佳學生報告獎。報告體現了邱教授團隊在珊瑚白化機制研究和對雙殼類分子系統進化研究的最新進展。
該國際研討會由南方海洋科學與工程廣東省實驗室（廣州）香港分部主辦，於2021年7月12-14日召開，旨在邀請國際優秀科學家、青年學者與研究生共同探討海洋科學與工程領域的最新進展。
