Overview

Dr. Jeffrey, Dongying Xie is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biology (First Class Honors) from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2012. He then earned an MPhil degree in Life Science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2015. In 2022, Dr. Xie completed his PhD at Hong Kong Baptist University, where he also pursued postdoctoral training in the same department.

Dr. Xie’s research focuses on unravelling the molecular mechanisms and evolutionary forces underlying postzygotic hybrid incompatibilities (HIs) and their implications for human health. His current work involves investigating the genetic basis of HI, using Caenorhabditis nematodes as a model system. He is also interested in leveraging advanced sequencing technologies to uncover cryptic genomic variations associated with HI.
