Overview

Dr. Zhu Yang is an assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Hong Kong Baptist University. With a Ph.D. in Physics from HKBU and postdoctoral training in Life Science at HKUST, Dr. Yang's expertise lies in understanding the metabolic responses and inter-tissue communications at a systems level, particularly in response to external stimuli. His pioneering work involves the development of mass spectrometry-based quantitative omics techniques and model-based data analysis approaches to delve into the intricate molecular interactions between living systems and their environments. Combining wet and dry lab methodologies, Dr. Yang applies a skillful and innovative approach to explore the biological and physiological impacts of external factors on systems-level processes. Presently, his research interests encompass i) multi-omics investigation of alterations in energy homeostasis in response to changes in environmental factors, particularly in the context of extensive calorie intake, and ii) exploration of signal transduction pathways through phosphorylation relay using phosphoproteomics.
